Deadline: September 5, 2011
Five 3-year PhD scholarships in Catalysis, Organic Synthesis and Chemical Biology under supervision of Associate Professor Thomas E. Nielsen are available, starting anytime between 1 September 2011 and 1 March 2012 in the Department of Chemistry.
The scholarships are part of the strategic research program at the Center for Antimicrobial Research. These PhD projects are focused on the synthesis of novel antimicrobial agents and antibiotics. Using a combination of diversity-oriented synthesis, solid-phase synthesis, and transition metal-catalysis, molecular libraries containing hundreds to thousands of compounds will be designed, synthesized and biologically evaluated. The projects are carried out in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen, University of Zürich, Singapore Centre on Environmental Life Sciences Engineering, LEO Pharma, and the Danish Technological Institute.
The successful candidates should have a master degree and distinct expertise in synthetic organic chemistry. Profound experience with the purification and analysis of organic compounds is required.
We must have your online application by 5 September 2011. Please open the link “apply for this job online”, fill in the application form and attach the following documents;
* A letter motivating the application (cover letter)
* Curriculum vitae
* Grade transcripts and BSc/MSc diploma
* Excel sheet with translation of grades to the Danish grading system (see guidelines and excel spreadsheet here)
