Deadline: September 5, 2011
Five 3-year PhD scholarships in Catalysis, Organic Synthesis and Chemical Biology under supervision of Associate Professor Thomas E. Nielsen are available, starting anytime between 1 September 2011 and 1 March 2012 in the Department of Chemistry.
The scholarships are part of the strategic research program at the Center for Antimicrobial Research. These PhD projects are focused on the synthesis of novel antimicrobial agents and antibiotics. Using a combination of diversity-oriented synthesis, solid-phase synthesis, and transition metal-catalysis, molecular libraries containing hundreds to thousands of compounds will be designed, synthesized and biologically evaluated. The projects are carried out in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen, University of Zürich, Singapore Centre on Environmental Life Sciences Engineering, LEO Pharma, and the Danish Technological Institute.
