Applications are now open for the 2012 APPEA Oil & Gas Industry Engineering Scholarship.
The scholarship is open to all Australian residents who are starting or already undertaking an engineering degree in Australia that relates to the oil and gas industry. APPEA encourages applications from Indigenous Australians.
The scholarship is applicable in any field of engineering for undergraduate degrees and covers the remaining duration of the recipient’s studies for up to five years full-time or equivalent parttime study.
Value of Scholarship :
The award for each scholarship is for $5,000 per year up to a maximum of five years full-time or part-time equivalent. A student may hold this APPEA scholarship in conjunction with other scholarships or grants. It is intended that the scholarship will assist with costs associated with university study.
Vacation work experience with oil and gas major :
The scholarship includes the expectation that paid vacation work experience will be provided with an APPEA member oil and gas operating company within Australia. Many of APPEA’s members have well-developed work experience programs that may allow students to complete one or more projects during vacation work. The project and work experience would include set objectives and performance feedback to the individual, and mentoring throughout the program. It is expected that the vacation work experience would be paid employment, so this income would be in addition to the scholarship.
Eligibility :
Applicants must be Australian citizens or residents who are undertaking or will commence an undergraduate engineering qualification in Australia that is related to the oil and gas industry.

Applications must include a statement of academic record, the names of two professional, academic or personal referees, and address the following criteria:
- Why are you applying for the APPEA Scholarship – how would it assist you in your studies?
- Why do you want to / why are you studying engineering?
- What interests you most about a career in the oil and gas industry?
