The Barakat Trust Post-Doctoral Research Scholarship is intended to enable a senior Muslim scholar to spend from October to June in Oxford to carry out a specific programme of research or prepare such research for publication. During this time the successful Scholar will be housed in the Khalili Research Centre in Oxford, where they will be allocated a desk and workstation. The barakat Trust is a UK registered charity which provides financial support for the study and research of the material and visual cultures of Islamic societies. Established in 1987, The Barakat Trust operates exclusively for educational purposes, providing scholarships and grants in Islamic Art History, Architecture, and Archaeology at the world’s most respected academic and cultural institutions at post-graduate and post-doctoral level.
Eligibility:
- Applicants for scholarships and academic research must have completed at least a B.A. degree.
- Students must be established in their course of study, and in a position to provide an assessment from a current academic supervisor.
Those applying for post-doctoral awards must have completed a doctoral degree.
- The majority of the funds available are zakat monies, and as such can only be granted to Muslim applicants, to enable them to carry out, in person, particular tasks, projects or courses of study.
- There are also funds that are available to assist non-Muslim scholars and projects administered by non-Muslim organizations.
Stipend: 18,000 pounds
