Business Economic Research Ltd (BERL) is a privately-owned independent New Zealand company which provides a range of business and economic advice to both public and private sector clients.
BERL has established this scholarship in memory of its co-founder the late Emeritus Professor Bryan Philpott FRSNZ CNZM, and in recognition of his contribution to economics and business in New Zealand. Also in recognition of Professor Philpott’s role as Macarthy Professor of Economics at Victoria University, the scholarship is to be awarded to students engaged in post-graduate studies in Economics at Victoria University.
Purpose of award
This scholarship will be offered to a full-time student studying Economics at Honours or Masters level at Victoria University.
Selection criteria
Selection will be made on the basis of each candidate’s research topic and academic merit. Although not limited to this specialisation, preference may be given to candiates undertaking applied research in areas of business and/or policy analysis and/or the application of economic models.
