December 29th, 2011 by icetea Leave a reply »

Deadline: January 15, 2012

The Summer Law School 2012 offers the unique opportunity to receive intensive legal training at one of the most prestigious law schools in Germany, the University of Freiburg. Following a one week seminar, fellows will spend about three weeks as an intern at a German law firm or other legal institution with an international focus.

The Summer Law School placements provide students with the unique opportunity to work in an international firm or organization, to learn about the daily life of a lawyer, consultant or judge, and to gain confidence in an international environment. Last but not least, the internships are a source of mutual cultural and professional enrichment for both, the interns and their hosts.
Eligibility Requirements
The program is open to outstanding candidates in their second and third year of legal studies in a program in the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom. German language skills are not a prerequisite but preferred. A proven interest in the German legal system is helpful.

Terms of Award
If selected, DAAD will provide a scholarship of EUR 650 for the duration of the five week program. Furthermore, each scholarship holder will receive a lump sum for international travel expenses (depending on place of study) and EUR 150 towards national travel needs. The DAAD will also provide health insurance as well as accident and personal/private liability insurance. There is no tuition fee for the program.

Accommodation: Hotel rooms will be booked for you by the DAAD for your stay in Freiburg and in Berlin. You are primarily responsible for finding and financing accommodation for the duration of your internship as housing for the 4 week period is not provided.
