2012/2013, Lord Rutherford Fellowship in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics [New Zealand]

The Lord Rutherford Memorial Research Fellowship was founded by Arthur Sims and Agnes Marion Sims who, in 1941, made provision of a fund of 10,000 pounds to establish a scholarship or scholarships to commemorate the late Baron Rutherford of Nelson, a former graduate of the University of Canterbury.

Purpose of award
The scholarship is to support postgraduate research at an institution approved by the Academic Board.

Selection criteria
The fellowship shall be open to graduates of a University in New Zealand who were born in NewZealand or at the time of application have been resident in New Zealand for a period of seven years or more.

The fellowship shall be awarded for outstanding merit and promise in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics or in any other cognate subject which the Academic Board may from time to time designate.

How do students apply?
Application forms are available from the Scholarships Office, Level 3, Registry, University of Canterbury, approximately 6 weeks before closing date.
