In facilitating academically able school-leavers to come and study at Victoria, the University recognises them as New Zealand’s scientists and scholars of the future. This Scholarship will be offered to the top applicant enrolling full time in any of Victoria University’s Bachelor degree programmes for the first time.
Purpose of award
The purpose of this scholarship is to recruit a high achieving undergraduate student to Victoria University of Wellington who attended Te Aro School for at least three years and to support them in their first year of study.
Selection criteria
1. Any student completing their studies at a New Zealand secondary school and who has attended Te Aro Primary School for at least three years, and who expects to have, fulfilled University Entrance requirements by the end of the current academic year is eligible to apply.
2. Applicants should be intending to enrol as a full-time student commencing a Bachelor’s degree at Victoria University in the year following application.
3. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit, as measured by their results in NCEA Level 2 or higher, or an equivalent qualification, and as attested by the School Principal. Applicants with their NCEA Certificate endored with Merit or Excellence are encouraged to apply. Attention will be given to the school subjects relevant to the course of study they intend to pursue at University. In addition special consideration may be given to applicants who hold leadership positions within their school and are considered to be good role models.
