The Hazel Hawke Scholarship is available to mature age female applicants whose finances would not normally allow them to study at university. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need, academic potential and commitment to community and social issues.
Hazel Hawke is recognised for her strong interest in and involvement with community and social issues relating to family, the environment and the arts. While perhaps achieving greatest prominence during the period of Bob Hawke’s prime ministership, Mrs Hawke had always worked independently and became involved in important social issues.
Eligibility:
# Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria to be considered for a Hazel Hawke Scholarship:Be a mature female (30 years or over as at March 1 in year of application)
# Have selected Curtin University as a first or second preference through TISC to undertake an Undergraduate Degree
# Be undertaking the first semester of their first Undergraduate Degree at Curtin University in Semester 1, 2012
# Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or the holder of an Australian Permanent Humanitarian or Permanent Resident visa.
# Be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported place

Criteria:
The Scholarship(s) will be awarded by a Selection Panel using the following criteria:
# Demonstrated community involvement and interest in social issues
# Demonstrated financial hardship
# Written reflection on a specific community contribution you have made and how this has affected your life and the lives of others
# Responses to questions in application
# Receipt of an offer of a place into an Undergraduate Degree at Curtin University in 2012.
