Application deadline: Jun 01 (Wed), 2011

The Chemical Physics group at Jacobs University Bremen is specialized on the application and development of laser spectroscopy techniques in the frequency and time domain. Keywords are, “Raman Spectroscopy”, “Food Research”, “SERS”, “Femtosecond Time-Resolved Spectroscopy”, “Nonlinear Optical Spectroscopy (CARS, DFWM, OKE, TG, …)”, “CARS Microscopy”, “Ultrafast Molecular Dynamics”.

Interested students, who can self-finance (!!!) their living in Germany (e.g. financed by national fellowships or other sources) can apply for a Ph.D. position. Successful candidates will get free access to the research laboratories (equipment and consumables will be financed by resarch group) to perform research on a topic, which can be freely discussed with the group leader.

The work group is part of a research team at Jacobs University, where physicists, chemists, and electrical engineers jointly investigate nano materials and quantum structures. The work environment is international. Therefore, a good command of English is mandatory. Basic German knowledge would be advantageous, however is not obligatory.

Persons leaving Jacobs University in all ranks in most cases have taken very good positions in industry as well as other universities. Part of this success next to the quality of education and research definitely is the international orientation.

Suitably qualified candidates should send their complete (!!!) applications (cover-letter, curriculum vitae, certificates and transcripts, list of publications, statement of research, and two letters of reference) as soon as possible to:

Prof. Dr. Arnulf Materny
School of Engineering and Science
Jacobs University Bremen
Campus Ring 1
28759 Bremen

Electronic submission is possible to a.materny@jacobs-university.de.
