The Art Department and the Africana Studies Department at Wellesley College, invite applications for a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in the history of the arts of Africa and the African Diaspora, for the Academic Years 2011 – ’12 and 2012 – ’13. The Fellow will teach one course in the Spring Semester of 2012 and one course each semester in the Academic Year 2012 – ’13. The starting annual salary is $50,000. There is also a one-time reimbursement for moving expenses, of up to $1,000. During each of the two years, the Mellon Fellow is also entitled to a $3,000 research account, conference travel and can apply for ER&D (Educational Research and Development) pedagogical funds.
REQUIREMENTS:
The applicant must have received his or her Ph.D. within the five years preceding the application deadline. Important criteria for the appointment are evidence of outstanding scholarship, a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and a willingness to be a collegial member of the two departments and the larger academic community at Wellesley College.
